A powerful history of Republican grassroots activism

The Florida Federation of Republican Women (FFRW) was chartered in 1950 and is affiliated with the National Federation of Republican Women (NFRW). At the national level, we are a grassroots organization of over 100,000 women throughout the country who support Republican candidates and issues at all levels of government.

FNFRW clubs can be found in the large cities and small communities in the state and with such a powerful network, we commit ourselves to advancing the participation of Republican Women in all areas of the political system. We are dedicated to encouraging and empowering women of all ages and backgrounds, strengthening the Republican Party and working to influence the crucial issues that face our communities, state and nation.

Our goals include assisting the party in electing qualified Republicans to office, educating our members on current issues and promoting Republican initiatives. Our members worked throughout the state during the election of 2006 on behalf of Republican Candidates. We worked in Republican Headquarters, held voter registration drives, and candidate forums. We worked on “Get out the Vote.”, walked door to door, made thousands of phone calls and filled in wherever needed.

Many of our members hold political office in their local communities and many others serve in the Florida Legislature. Our members are also active Republican Executive Committee leaders and serve as State Committeewomen.

Who we are…
The National Federation of Republican Women is a national grassroots political organization with about 1,800 local clubs in 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands. With 100,000 members, the NFRW is one of the largest women's political organizations in the country. A woman becomes a member by joining her local club or through a National Associate membership. Members of a local club also are granted membership in their state Federation.

What we do…
Once an auxiliary of the Republican National Committee (RNC), the NFRW is financially and organizationally independent today.
The NFRW uses its resources to:

Promote an informed public through political education and activities

Increase the effectiveness of women in the cause of good government;

Facilitate cooperation among the National and state federations of Republican women's clubs;

Foster loyalty to the Republican Party and promote its principles and candidates in all elections, including non-partisan elections;

Support Republican objectives and policies and work for the election of Republican nominees.
In working toward these objectives, the NFRW concentrates its efforts in the areas of educating, communicating, recruiting, campaigning, fundraising, training and legislative action.

The Nation’s Most Powerful Network of Republican Women

The NFRW is 100,000 members strong with local clubs in all 50 states, plus the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands. The organization was founded at a conference held at Chicago's Palmer House in 1938.

With the encouragement of Republican National Committee Chairman John D. M. Hamilton, it was organized under the direction of Marion E. Martin, then assistant chairman of the Republican National Committee and National Committeewoman for Maine.

The organization originally was known as the National Federation of Women's Republican Clubs of America (NFWRC), but the name was changed in January 1953 to the National Federation of Republican Women (NFRW). At the time of organization in 1938, local clubs totaling 95,000 members had applied for affiliation. Today, there are 1,825 local clubs affiliated across the nation.
