Caring For America Committee

Caring for America Committee Overview

The goal of Caring for America is to provide Republican Women positive public relations by working in the community and partnering with non-profit organizations to show that Republican women “do care,” and are always willing to provide help and assistance where needed.

In 1999 NFRW began a program to encourage local clubs and state federations to form “Caring for America” Committees and commit to at least one community service project.

As Chairwoman Elect of FFRW Caring for America, with the help of the FFRW, I will enthusiastically and actively support local organizations who serve the community at large and who share the values of women and Republican ideals.

Examples of organizations that are helping the community and who we would support are American Heart Association, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Retired Veterans, Ronald McDonald House, Terminally Ill Children, etc…

In addition to working in the community, we will do four projects a year on a quarterly basis, including not limited to:

¨               Provide dictionaries to primary school students in the public school system especially in at-risk areas.

¨               Provide Christmas boxes for veterans in local veterans’ hospitals.

¨               Work with Welfare to Work mentoring programs.  Host workshops for women entering the workforce.

¨               Help schools with Reading Readiness screening.

¨               Participate in “Reach One-Teach One” assistance with reading in elementary schools.

¨               Sponsor patriotic writing challenges in local schools.  Offer prizes for the best essay on patriotism.

¨            Sponsor “Support our Troops” rallies to provide care packages for the deployed troops.

¨            Take young people with you to nursing homes to visit “adopted” grandparents – teach them to care.

I have a huge heart when it comes to helping the less fortunate and look forward to working with a committee of women that want to make a difference in the lives of Floridians who need it the most.
