Biography & Accomplishments

Before he was selected by Gov. Crist to serve as his running mate and Lt. Gov., Kottkamp served FL’s 74th district as their state representative. Kottkamp is currently running for Attorney General.

FL Rep. 2000-2006

Lt. Gov. 2007-present

 In 2000, was elected to the Florida House of Representatives representing District 74 which includes Cape Coral, Sanibel, Captiva, Pine Island and parts of Fort Myers and Boca Grande. Jeff was re-elected by a landslide in 2002, and was re-elected without opposition in 2004.


During his three terms in the legislature Jeff earned a reputation as a principled, conservative leader who put people over politics. He fought for lower taxes, for a quality education for all children, and for tougher penalties for violent criminals.

In September of 2006 Jeff was selected by Charlie Crist, the Republican nominee for Governor, to be his running mate. The Crist-Kottkamp team was elected in November of 2006. Jeff was sworn in as Florida's 17th Lieutenant Governor in January of 2007.

As Lieutenant Governor Jeff serves as Chairman of Florida's Children's Cabinet, Chairman of Space Florida, Chairman of the Florida Sports Foundation and oversees the the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles as well as the Office of Drug Control.

Kottkamp speaks to area Republicans

Lt. Gov. Jeff Kottkamp kept it short and sweet during a visit to Ocala on Wednesday, telling a group of fellow Republicans that the path to economic recovery runs through high-tech innovation - particularly space exploration - and in thwarting President Barack Obama's economic agenda.

Kottkamp Takes Another Straw Poll

Kottkamp secured another straw poll victory over his Republican counterparts. The Florida Federation of College Republicans (FFCR) overwhelmingly voted the current Lieutenant Governor as the favorite in the upcoming election.

Kottkamp Finishes Strong in 2009

Lieutenant Governor Jeff Kottkamp's campaign for Attorney General announced today total contributions in 2009 of more than $390,000. This is nearly a 2-1 advantage over his primary opponents.

Kottkamp, lawmakers seek to save space jobs

Lt. Gov. Jeff Kottkamp and members of the "Space Caucus" are vowing to cushion the blow of at least 3,500 layoffs when the shuttle fades into history as early as next year.

Symposium offers upbeat outlook for Florida

Yesterday was a big day for the North Florida Transportation Planning Organization and the Jacksonville Business Journal. They hosted their Global Trade & Transportation Symposium at the Marriott Southpoint hotel on Salisbury Road, and they had some heavy hitters as guest speakers. Among them was Lt. Gov.
