Florida Republican Women Denounce Speaker Pelosi's Leadership

(Tallahassee, FL)   The Florida Federation of Republican Women today condemned the leadership of Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House and appealed to members of the Democratic Party to replace her in order to save the American taxpayers from further economic disaster.

"Throughout this crisis and especially during her media performances from Sunday afternoon through Monday, Ms. Pelosi has proven that she is not capable of leading Congress to a bi-partisan resolution in the Wall Street crisis. We are shocked that a woman in her position could allow herself to behave in such a shrew-like manner. She has ignored the civilized rules of public debate and demonstrated a political recklessness we have never seen in Congress, thus creating an even larger and more costly international debacle," said Linda Ivell, president of the FFRW.

Ivell pointed to the disastrous vote on the $700 billion bailout in which 96 Democrats voted against the proposal culminating in the estimated $1.1 trillion lost by Americans yesterday in the stock market. "Amazingly throughout her tenure as Speaker she has been given a pass because she is a Democratic woman, yet she clearly lacks the judgment necessary to lead even her own majority," said Ivell.

"Our members feel that Nancy Pelosi's vitriolic abuses in assigning partisan blame have been so disgraceful and misleading that they rise to the level of negligence. It is painful to watch a woman self destruct in this manner and take the country's economic stability with her. She should go back to her regular seat and turn the podium over to statesperson who is both worthy and capable," concluded Ms. Ivell.
